Live Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony highlights 2025 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame honorees

Louisiana sports fans are set to enjoy front row seats at the
Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2025 induction ceremony as Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB)
brings this year’s event LIVE from Natchitoches. NFL and LSU football standout Andrew Whitworth, pro
basketball All-Stars Danny Granger and Vickie Johnson, coaching greats Joe Scheuermann, Danny
Broussard, and Nick Saban are all part of a star-studded group of honorees to be inducted into the
Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. LPB celebrates these iconic sports figures and the entire
induction class during the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame: 2025 Celebration, Saturday, June 28
at 7:00 PM. Viewers can also stream the “Purple Carpet” pre-ceremony online at www.lpb.org
and on YouTube beginning at 6:00 PM.
In addition to the live broadcast, both WLAE-TV 32 in New Orleans and WYES, the PBS station
for New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, will air the taped broadcast. WLAE will air the special on
Friday, July 4 at 4:00pm and WYES-TV on Monday, July 7 at 9:00pm.
This LPB special, produced in partnership with the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, will bring
excitement and unforgettable moments to sports fans across the state. It will feature exclusive
sit-down interviews and profile stories on the honorees. “Louisiana athletes have always played
an integral role in the history of organized sports. Our state’s outsized contributions across the
athletic spectrum are recognized throughout the sports world,” says Clarence “C.C” Copeland,
LPB President and CEO. “We’re proud to bring this event live for the first time, so viewers
everywhere can share in the celebration.”
“The concept of a live, statewide telecast of the induction ceremony has been a quantum leap
forward that we’ve envisioned for many years,” adds Doug Ireland, Chairman, Louisiana Sports

Hall of Fame. “The ceremony is a captivating, entertaining, impassioned, and joy-filled event
that even those non-sports fans in the audience will enjoy. We are very grateful for our
partnership with LPB and thrilled about taking this next step forward.”
Along with Whitworth, Granger, Johnson, Scheuermann, Broussard, and Saban, the 2025 LSHOF
Class includes 14-time All-American gymnast April Burkholder, boxing great Bobby Soileau, and
high school football coaching legend Dale Weiner.
In addition, acclaimed sports journalists Ed Daniels and Glenn Guilbeau will be inducted and
receive the 2025 Distinguished Service Award in Sports Journalism, while LSU graduate and
associate commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, Herb Vincent will be enshrined as the
winner of the 2025 Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award.
LPB will encore the LOUISIANA SPORTS HALL OF FAME: 2025 CELEBRATION on Sunday, July 6
at 1:30 PM. The program also will be available via on demand streaming at
