Memorial Day is observed at courthouse

On Monday, May 26, Memorial Day was once again observed at the Evangeline Parish Courthouse. The event was led by J.D. Soileau, president of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 632. Deacon Ben Soileau, a retired United States Air Force general, led the invocation and the benediction. Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court Randy Deshotel read a list of names of those parish residents who made the ultimate sacrifice. Taps was then played by Karl Bordelon. Local members of the Catholic Daughters of America were also present and served refreshments. In the top photo, Debbie Fontenot (left) hands out American Flags.
