TCPD confiscates narcotics following traffic stops

Turkey Creek Police Department has been busy hitting the streets over the past month and has been ensuring the safety of the people by conducting several traffic stops, confiscating narcotics, and apprehending dangerous felons.
On August 09, officers with the Turkey Creek Police Department conducted a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation. When the officers made contact with the driver, Ashley Naquin, of Turkey Creek, it was learned Naquin and her passenger, Haley Hudson, of Turkey Creek, had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Officers then requested permission to search the vehicle, and K9 Balu was deployed to conduct an open air sniff of the vehicle where there was positive alert from the K9. After a thorough search of the vehicle, marijuana was located. Naquin admitted to the narcotics and was cited for simple possession. Both subjects were transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail for their outstanding charges.
Then, on August 23, officers conducted a traffic stop for a minor violation. Upon contact with Shaquila Thomas, of Port Barre, they immediately smelled the odor marijuana. After a thorough search of the vehicle marijuana was located and a citation was issued for simple possession.
Days later, on August 31, officers conducted traffic control on Cemetery Rd. and made a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation on Phyllis Rials, of Turkey Creek. After a brief roadside interview, reasonable suspicion was suspected, and K9 Ice was deployed to conduct an open air sniff. K9 Ice alerted on the vehicle, and, after a thorough search of the vehicle, several narcotics were located. Rials was charged with nine felonies and one misdemeanor.
On Wednesday, September 1, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for minor traffic violations and made contact with Joshua Aucoin of Mamou. After a roadside interview, it was learned Aucoin’s license was suspended, and reasonable suspicion was suspected. Aucoin denied consent to search the vehicle, and K9 Ice was deployed to conduct an open air sniff where a positive alert occurred. After a thorough search of the vehicle, narcotics were located. Aucoin had a warrant issued for his arrest later that day.
