On April 1, 2022, at approximately 8:00 pm., the Turkey Creek Police Department responded to
a report of a two-car motor vehicle collision on US Highway 167 N near Earl Deville Road.
The investigation at the scene reviled that Jose Villanueva, 25, of Honduras, was operating a
2010 Honda Civic traveling south on US Highway 167 N with one male passenger, German
Humburto, 25, of Honduras. Jose’s vehicle then moved into the northbound lane and collided
with a 2017 Ford Party Bus, driven by Edward Citizen, 59, of Church Point, carrying multiple
passengers.
Jose Villanueva died as a result of the impact. German Humburto was removed from the vehicle
by first responders and transported to Rapides Medical by Acadian Ambulance to be treated for
his injuries. Edward and his passengers were treated on scene by EMS for minor injuries while
two of the passengers were transported to Rapides Medical.
Coroner Zeke Thomas arrived on scene and authorized first responders to remove Jose’s body
from the vehicle and be taken by Ardoin Funeral Home.
The cause of crash is still under investigation.
The Turkey Creek Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the family of the
deceased and hope for a speedy recovery for all involved.
“Complacency on the roadway is dangerous. Be alert of other drivers as an unlawful action on
their part could put you and your family at risk. Being alert will give you valuable time to react
and hopefully avoid a collision.” – Steven Ardoin, Chief of Police.
