On September 3, 2019, at approximately 8 p.m., officers with the Mamou Police Department were informed of some illegal narcotics being distributed from a local resident known as Ladarius Williams. Officers located Williams shortly after while he was traveling in a 2016 Dodge Charger. Officers observed Williams commit a traffic violation so officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Located in the vehicle was Ladarius Williams driving and two other passengers.
During the traffic stop it was found that Williams was driving with a suspended driver license. Williams was then arrested for the violations. It was also discovered that no one in the vehicle knew who the car was for that Williams was driving. Officers then conducted an inventory of the vehicle before having it towed away.
Narcotics were located on Williams and in the immediate area of where Williams was sitting, along with a large amount of cash. At that time officers further their investigation and was given consent to make a search of Williams’ residence located at 712 5th street Mamou La. Upon entering the residence, narcotics were observed in plain view throughout the residence along with a handgun.
Officers collected all evidence and Williams was then booked into the Mamou Police Department for one count of possession of schedule II cds, one count of distribution/manufacturing or possession with the intent to distribute schedule II cds, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of possession of schedule I narcotics, one count of possession of a firearm while in the presence of a control dangerous substance, one count of possession of a schedule IV cds, failure to use turn signal, and driving under suspension. Williams is being held at the Mamou Jail on a $98,150.00 bond.
