A ribbon cutting celebrating the grand opening of Southwest Louisiana Credit Union, was held on Wednesday, July 29, at its location, 342 West Main in Ville Platte. The old building was beautifully renovated, and there was a very huge turnout with many attending making it a success.

Qualifying continues for November election

Qualifying for the upcoming November elections continues until Friday, August 7. Qualifying will be held at the Clerk of Court’s office in the Evangeline Parish Courthouse from the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each of the qualifying days.

Guatemalan national escapes from custody in Pine Prairie

A civil detainee, identified as Santiago Manuel Gasper (DOB: June 23, 2004), a national of Guatemala, escaped from the ICE Facility in Pine Prairie, on July 31, at approximately 4:09 p.m., according to a press release from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office.
