VPPD arrests Darius Arvie for second degree murder

On Wednesday, Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue reported that an arrest at been made in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.
In a release from the chief it states that “Darius Armondo Arvie age 24, of 2488 2nd Street, was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of carrying a firearm by a convicted felon.”
The the victim in this matter has been identified as 30-year-old Holden Ardoin, of 975 Railroad St., Ville Platte.
The release stated that “According to residents who live in the area, one gun shot was heard at around 2:40 in the morning but the body wasn’t discovered until approximately 7:21 a.m.” The release went on to also state that “one of the residents in the area who heard the gun shot, looked out of his residence and saw multiple black males in the yard and roadway.” The witness also stated that “the subjects got into in a vehicle and left the area.”
At this time, no further information has been released in regard to this matter.
Arvie is currently remains incarcerated without bond.
