Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Follow the wrong path, and it will take you to ruin and destruction. But, this proverb also teaches us that we have no ability of ourselves to make the right decision. Left up to our own best thinking and reasoning we will always choose the wrong path. I’m sure there are some people who will take issue with that statement, but look at your past and see the wrong paths you have taken which ended up causing pain and regret. We don’t like to admit this; nevertheless, it is true. What these verses are admonishing us to do is to “Watch where we are going.” The wise watch their steps and avoid evil; fools, however, are headstrong and reckless.
Isn’t it time we allow the Spirit of God to help us make the right choices concerning the paths we take? Our Lord said, as is recorded in Matthew 7:13-14 KJV, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in threat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” This is the only path to choose if you want eternal life and the joy and peace of the Lord. It pays to watch where you are going.
