In Exodus 3:8 KJV, we find the Lord speaking to Moses of His people Israel. He says, “And I am come down to deliver them out of the land of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.”
The Lord saw the afflictions of His people. They were sorely distressed and under the heavy bondage of Egyptian rule. He had determined to deliver them from these afflictions, and He miraculously intervened on their behalf. The nation of Israel saw God’s hand in the plagues that beset Egypt, but the point where the rubber meets the road came at the crossing of the Red Sea. Here the people’s faith was put to the test. Seeing through the carnal eye it was a hopeless situation. They had the Red Sea in front and Pharaoh in back. Pharaoh was determined to have a blood bath, and guess whose blood he wanted to draw?
Looking on the situation, the people failed the test God put before them. They murmured because of fear. They couldn’t lift their eyes beyond their circumstances, but I want you to know they crossed over to the other side of the Red Sea. None were lost, even those who doubted because of their humanness. Regardless of the lack of faith on the part of the people, God met them at their point of need and point of faith. He heard their cry of desperation, and He responded according to the sureness of His word.
Many people believe because they lack faith they will never receive their miracle. True, James tells us that we are not to doubt, not to waver in our faith, but know this - God sees the urgent need and meets us at that point of faith.
