The Lord makes a precious promise, as recorded in John 14:12-14 (KJV). We read, “Verily, verily I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do: because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, I will do it.” God cannot lie. It is not in His nature. If He could lie, He would not be God. Therefore, if He has made this promise, and He has, then it shall be accomplished.
Verse 14 tells us anything we ask in Christ’s name, He (Christ) is going to do it. Why aren’t we just simply opening the door? We need to see the answer is already there. It has already been loosed. The works of the devil have already been bound. What we need to do is apply the Word, act on the Word, and discover the greatness of what God is doing in our lives.
When Christ said we could ask for anything, He gave us a blank check. The problem is we have difficulty believing it, so we don’t ask for it, or if we ask, we have doubt, the absence of faith. And what does James say about faith? He says, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.” (James 1:5-7 KJV). We have not because we ask not, but even if we ask, we must have faith we will receive or we will not have what we ask for.
Christ has given to the saints a precious promise, let’s not hesitate to apply the Word and discover what Christ is doing in our lives.
