The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 5:8 (KJV), “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” We know, according to scripture, he comes but to kill, steal and to destroy. His ultimate purpose is to take you out, to ruin your life, to ruin your marriage, to ruin your children, to split your church. He wants to overwhelm you, deceive you, making you believe his lies and be rendered completely ineffective in this your relationship with Christ so you become a miserable person. And the sad thing is, it is happening in churches all across the world today. People are not putting on the whole armor of God and trusting God for the victory; they are laying their spiritual weapons down and retreating. And the more they retreat, the more the enemy will advance.
In Romans 8:35-39 (KJV), the apostle Paul admonishes each and every one of us to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. We must remember our strength is derived from God. We have been depending too much upon our own strength, which is pitifully inadequate. Remember the same power that raised Christ from the dead empowers God’s people so they may also be strong in God’s power. God does the fighting. What is required from us, as believers, is to show up for the battle fully clothed in the armor of God that Paul speaks about in Ephesians 6:11-17. We must show up, battle ready, with our complete trust and faith in God. We must be strong in the power of God.
