LA Tournoi Queen: Guidry to reign

The annual Tournoi Pageant was held Saturday evening, August 26, at the Northside Civic Center in Ville Platte. Winners and runners-up were announced as follows:
Junior Tournoi Queen: Addyson Ann Boutte, the 13-year-old daughter of Melissa Bergeron of Opelousas, was named Junior Tournoi Queen. She is currently a freshman at Port Barre High School. Boutte’s hobbies include shopping, babysitting and playing with her sister. She has been a student at Lisa’s Studio of Dance for 10 years. After graduating from high school, she plans to attend LSU to pursue a degree in education to become an English or special needs teacher.
Teen Tournoi Queen: Jillian Marie Frederick the 16-year-old daughter of Corinne Frederick and Armando Martinez Jr. of Breaux Bridge, was announced as Teen Tournoi Queen. She is a junior at Breaux Bridge High School, where she is a school athletic trainer and manager for the basketball team and a member of 4-H. Her hobbies include hunting, fishing and participating in pageants. She loves taking care of animals and being involved in school activities. After graduating from high school, Frederick plans to work for a non-profit animal organization and pursue a degree in business.
Scottie Anne Carriere, the 16-year-old daughter of Keri Miller and Clifford Carriere of VIlle Platte, was named as first runner-up to the new Teen Queen.
Louisiana Tournoi Queen: Shelbi Lynn Guidry, the 22-year-old daughter of Marty and Shawn Guidry of St. Martinville, was crowned Louisiana Tournoi Queen. A 2019 graduate of Breaux Bridge High School, she also attended the National EMS Academy. She is currently employed as a wax technician with Stuller in Lafayette. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family and traveling the state learning about the rich history it has to offer. She was an active 4-H member on the shooting sports team while in high school and now volunteers with the St. Martin Parish 4-H shooting sports program. Guidry is active in her church and volunteers at various festivals and events around the state, including veteran events. She enjoys putting her mind to the test by trying new things and meeting new people. She says, “Being a positive mentor for the younger generations is very important to me.” Her future plans include expanding her knowledge to further her career at Stuller to one day become a manager.
Ava Courville, the 18-year-old daughter of Paul and Brittany Courville of Arnaudville, was chosen as first runner-up to the new Louisiana Tournoi Queen.
Ms. Tournoi Queen: Gabrielle Dawn Alleman, the 27-year-old daughter of Denee Johnson and Ben Chaney of Church Point, was selected as Ms. Tournoi Queen. She is currently employed with Lourde’s Physician Group of Scott. Her hobbies include crafting, spending too much shopping, hanging out with her two boys and traveling. Alleman also enjoys pageant coaching, fishing, being a boy mom and jeeping. Her future plans include continuing her education in the medical field and growing her relationships with other fairs and festivals.
