Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from all of us at Heritage Manor. The first Thanksgiving in what was to become the United States took place in 1621, when the Pilgrims in Plymouth invited their Native American neighbors to celebrate the harvest and thank them for helping the Pilgrims survive the previous year. Foods they ate included squash, corn, potatoes, berries and a variety of nuts, duck, geese, venison, fish and other seafood.
The Thanksgiving proclamation was issued by President George Washington in 1789, It is a day set aside for giving thanks and praise to express our grateful acknowledgements to God for the abundant blessings He has granted us.
The last Thursday in November was declared as a national day of thanksgiving in 1863. We wish each and every one a blessed and safe holiday.
