Older adults, especially the active ones, are describing their ideal activities as excitement, energy, movement, learning and laughter. They are no longer content to sit still in a room. They want to move, socialize and interact with the community. They want to be active and we want to make sure that they will be active. Many seniors want to read but have impaired vision. We have a weekly reading activity to keep them informed of local news, deaths and community events through the use of newspapers and the Bonnes Nouvelles. We also arrange for talking books through the Blind Association for the Severely Impaired. The elderly of today are living longer, working longer and remaining healthier than in past generations. We are so pleased that we can once again come together as a group to share time and enjoyment with our residents. We look forward to seeing our volunteers back with us in the near future.
