Head, heart, hands, health on display

The annual Evangeline Parish 4-H Award’s Night was again held Tuesday at the Ville Platte Northside Civic Center where the outstanding achievers were recognized.
Eighth graders Gabriel Fontenot from Sacred Heart and Kaylie Granger from Mamou received the Golden Clover Award, and 10th grader from St. Edmund’s Jose Deshotel earned the Emerald Achievement Award.
Those senior 4-H members who received scholarships were as follows: Gabrielle Fontenot, Sacred Heart, McCrory Family Memorial and Scott Truck and Tractor; Iyana Freeman, Ville Platte High, LSU Foundation and Scott Truck and Tractor; Reid Eastin, Ville Platte High, Scott Truck and Tractor; and Sean Eastin, Ville Platte High, Scott Truck and Tractor.
Fontenot was also recognized as the Farm Bureau Outstanding 4-H member.
The state shooting sports competitors were also recognized. They were Aaron Bieber, Charley Bieber, Trey Bieber, Aiden Bruney, Ashton Duos, Andrew T. Fontenot, Benjamin Fontenot, Lance Fontenot, Daniel Paul, Seth Paul, Tyler Paul, Benjamin Romero, Michael Soileau, John Thomas Thrasher.
Bruney was also recognized as the Reserve Grand Champion Brahman Influence Commercial Heifer winner.
