Fasske crowned 37th Boggy Bayou Queen; McDaniel, Sellers also awarded titles at annual pageant

Newly crowned Boggy Bayou royalty was named on Saturday, April 30, at a festive venue belonging to Derrick and Leila Thrasher north of Pine Prairie. Among the girls competing in all categories of both pageants were 86 contestants. According to pageant director Regina Pate, that number was one of the biggest ever. The youth royalty will be revealed in the Sunday, May 15, edition of the Ville Platte Gazette.
Madison Elizabeth (Emmy) Fasske, of DeQuincy, was crowned Boggy Bayou Queen, succeeding Halle Grace Bertrand. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Jacob and Chasity Fasske.
Fasske has baby blue eyes and brown hair. She is currently attending DeQuincy High School with a 4.1 grade point average. She was elected as senior class president, is a member of FFA, Beta club, and student council, and is a football trainer.
Her hobbies include upcycling clothes, driving around town, and shopping with friends. Her favorite color is pink, favorite food is Mexican, favorite song is “As It Was” by Harry Styles, and favorite TV show or movie is Instant Family.
A fun fact about the newly crowned queen is, like the mayor of Whoville, she has had her tonsils removed twice.
First alternate was Ainsley Dutton, and second alternate was Shelbi Guidry.
Following in the footsteps of Kayla McElfresh as Ms. Boggy Bayou Queen is Taylor McDaniel, of Mittie, the 22-year-old daughter of Natasha Hamilton. She is the wife of Terik McDaniel.
McDaniel has dark brown eyes and black hair. She is employed at St. Francis Nursing Home and is on the 2021 dean’s list at Sowela Technical College. She is a member of First United Pentecostals of Oakdale and was recently accredited as a Hospice volunteer.
Her hobbies include reading, spending time with family, and crafting. Her favorite color is blue, favorite food is taco soup, favorite song is “Still Everything” by Benita Jones, and favorite TV show or movie is The Vampire Diaries.
A fun fact about McDaniel is she enjoys caring for her chicken coop, “the eggcelent inn,” and is a licensed nurse.
First alternate was Jackie Bergeron, and second alternate was Pepper Manuel.
Also crowned was McKenna Brielle Sellers, of Abbeville, as Teen Miss Boggy Bayou. She is the 14-year-old daughter of Kristy Stelly and attends North Vermilion Middle School.
She has blue eyes and brown hair and made All-American cheer. Her hobbies include soccer, dancing, cheer, volleyball, softball, and travelling. Her favorite color is hot pink, favorite food is chocolate covered strawberries, favorite song is “Sand In My Boots” by Morgan Wallen, and favorite TV show or movie is Heartland.
First alternate was Victoria Chaddrick, and second alternate was Rylee Comeaux.
