Pine Prairie Panthers sweep Basile boys, 66-44

By: DARREL LEJEUNE and TONY MARKS LSN Editors PINE PRAIRIE - The Bearcats dropped their second game of the week to the Pine Prairie Panthers on Friday, Jan. 9, falling 66–44 in a boys basketball matchup at Pine Prairie. The contest marked the second meeting between the two teams in the same week.

Teams combine for 112 points in Lady Trojan win

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - As two parish teams clashed on the hard court, they combined to score 112 points on Tuesday, January 6. By the time the last basket was made, Sacred Heart earned a 62-50 win over Pine Prairie.

Green Demons, Bulldogs compete in New Year’s Classic

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - Several boys’ basketball teams from around the area, and even some from as far as Ferriday and Lake Charles, competed in the inaugural New Year’s Classic at Ville Platte High on Saturday, January 3.
According to reports, a record eight inches of snow blanketed Evangeline Parish. The snowfall amount exceeded the previous record which was set in 1895. Pictured is the Crucifixion statue inside the cemetery at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church as the snow continues to heavily fall on Tuesday, January 21.

By: TONY MARKS Editor PINE PRAIRIE - A 40-point night from Kynnedi Ware wrapped up a 73-53 win as the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers slew the DeRidder Lady Dragons on Tuesday, December 23. All but six of Ware’s points came from the field.
