By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor IOWA – Good fortune allowed the No. 22-seeded Mamou Green Demons to roll into Jennings and pull off the 7-5 upset of the No. 11-seeded Bulldogs in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.

Athletes qualify for next week’s state meet

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor IOWA – In most cases, it’s a well-known fact that the bigger a fishing hole is, the bigger the fish tend to be. As teams inch closer to the LHSAA state track meet, scheduled for May 5-7 at Bernie Moore Track Stadium at LSU, track-and-field is heating up.

There is something special about watching kids you know succeed. That’s where I am now, and it’s been a special few years for me. I’m from Eunice, born and raised, and will probably be buried here. I love my hometown, and as a result, I love my alma mater.

By: TONY MARKS Editor In the wild, panthers are skillful and solitary hunters that stalk their prey before going for the chase. While mostly going after small animals such as raccoons and rabbits, panthers are known to hunt fish in the streams.

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor KAPLAN – Sometimes when it rains, it pours. For the No. 30-seeded Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs, they ran into a storm in the form of a power-hitting monsoon in No. 3-seed Kaplan. The Lady Pirates overwhelmed the Lady Bulldogs on Monday.
