The Marks Post: Resting up before a new season

Do you hear that? It is the proverbial calm before the storm before high school football begins. This past weekend was the last weekend without high school football through December. Because of that, I stayed home this past weekend and caught up on some rest.

LeCompte Jr., author of Sharpened Iron, passes away

By: TONY MARKS Editor Melvin LeCompte Jr., author of Sharpened Iron: The Tee Cotton Bowl Story, passed away on Saturday, June 11, at the age of 52. He was an accomplished author and musician. He taught school for 20 years in the St. Landry Parish School system having touched many lives.

Chaddrick’s vision begins with assistants, learning on fly

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor PINE PRAIRIE – Colton Chaddrick made the decision to step right into the fire. With no prior experience as a head coach at the high school level, Chaddrick stepped up last summer to lead the Pine Prairie baseball program.
