Mamou seals VPHS district fate; Northwest crowned 4-3A champs

By: RHETT MANUEL Sports Editor PRAIRIE RONDE — After a resilient 71-70 win over the Ville Platte Bulldogs on Monday night, the Northwest Raiders clinched the District 4-3A district crown in a hard-fought 73-66 win over the Mamou Green Demons on Wednesday night.

Close...but no crown

Smith signs to play baseball in Waco with McLennan College

By: TONY MARKS Editor The dream of playing baseball is continuing for Owen Smith after signing to play at the next level with McLennan College in Waco, Texas. “It’s an absolute blessing,” said Smith, the 18-year-old son of Gerard and Holly Smith and grandson of Terryl and Barbara Fontenot.
