The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Charles R. Johnson, 38, Ville Platte, was arrested October 19, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for illegal possession of stolen things.

Stolen chain saws from Turkey Creek are located

Staff Report On Monday, October 17, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department's Patrol Division stopped a car for a traffic violation. Upon coming into contact with the driver, there was a smell of marijuana coming from the car. The driver admitted to having marijuana and gave it to the deputy.

Recent drug arrests, citations are reported

Staff Report On Thursday, October 13, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department’s Narcotic unit assisted the La. Probation and Parole department at a residence located at 154 Bussy Lane in Ville Platte. A probation compliance search was conducted, and narcotics were located.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • David R. Saucier, 60, Mamou, was arrested October 18, 2022, by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office for two counts of failure to appear for court.

Crash Claims Life in Evangeline Parish

Evangeline Parish – Shortly after 7:30 p.m., on October 23, 2022, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 115 north of LA 106 in Evangeline Parish. The crash took the life of 41-year-old Jaworski Christmas of Bunkie.

Unrestrained Driver Killed in Evangeline Parish Crash

Evangeline Parish – Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on October 19, 2022, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 115 near O’Quin Loop in Evangeline Parish. The crash claimed the life of 75-year-old Rita Vidrine of St. Landry.

Chief Neal Lartigue reports multiple shootings and an arrest

On October 14, 2022 at approximately 1:15 a.m. p.m.Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to the area of Chataignier and Main where shots were being fired. Upon arrival it was determined that multiple people were injured during the shooting.

EPSO investigates shots fired on JFK Ave.

On the 16 th of October 2022 at approximately 12:01 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department responded to a call of shots fired on John F. Kennedy Avenue. Upon arriving on scene Deputies found numerous fired shell casings.
