The Town of Mamou has announced its musical entertainment line up and events for the 2024 Mardi Gras celebration in February. The line up is as follows:
Southside Events
Saturday, February 10: Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys (11 a.m. - 2 p.m.) and Ferral Manuel and the Wild Rice Band (2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.)
Monday, February 12: DJ Rob (5 p..m. - 8 p.m.) and Kevin Naquin and the Ossun Playboys ( 8 p.m. - 11 p.m.) will be performing at the traffic light on Sixth and Main Streets.
Tuesday, February 13: The Courir de Mardi Gras will leave from the American Legion Hall on Main Street at 7 a.m. Traditional Cajun Music will be performed at the traffic light on Sixth and Main Streets from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., Jamie Berzas and the Cajun Tradition Band will be performing until the riders return.
Northside Events
The No Limit Riders will host a trail ride and music for Mardi Gras with the following line up:
Monday, February 12: Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush will perform beginning at 5 p.m. Starting at 8 p.m., Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Big Timers will perform, along with DJ JDawg.
Tuesday, February 13: The trailride will leave at 10 a.m. sharp with line up on Seventh Street. All vehicles and floats must register. Only horses and floats will be allowed, no ATVs will be permitted. DJ Big Mack and DJ Bubba will be on the trail ride. At 12 noon, MJ Fontenot and the Zydeco Country Boyz will perform. At 2:30 p.m., Chris Ardoin and the Nu’Step Krewe will perform.
There will be several vendors available, as well as free gumbo for all horse riders. No fighting will be allowed. Anyone caught fighting will be arrested.
