After recent reports of counterfeit money circulating around Ville Platte, Chief of Police Neil Lartigue issued a statement warning the businesses and the public about the issue.
In the release, the chief said he “would like to warn businesses and residents to be aware that counterfeit currency is being used in the area. The department has responded to a few reports recently, one of a counterfeit hundred dollar bill and also a counterfeit money order. Both of these incidents were reported by a business in the city limits of Ville Platte. Businesses should be vigilant in checking currency to ensure that it is not counterfeit and also reporting it immediately to the department if they believe that the currency is fake.”
To report suspicious or illegal activity, according to the chief, contact the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313. Your call will remain anonymous.
