Today we have so many people, young and old alike, who worship heroes. They worship sports heroes, rock stars, movie stars, politicians, etc. What a waste of time and energy, for these men of clay are here today and gone tomorrow. As William Shakespeare said, “They strut their hour upon the stage and then they are no more.”
And the best of men are still fallible. They can stumble and fall, causing many people to become disillusioned. But not God! God is the God that is dependable from beginning to end. His word is faithful and true. What He says He will do, He will do. He is omnipotent, having all power and authority. When we trust our situations and our lives into the hands of God, we can be assured He will work everything out according to His good purpose.
I am reminded of the biblical account of Moses leading the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage and through the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. Through him, the Lord worked many, many miracles, but the actual leader - the power behind the representatives - was the Lord. He was going ahead of the nation of Israel. He was preparing the way for the nation. It was necessary for the nation to realize the power was the Lord’s. Thank His holy name that He chooses to use vessels of clay we can relate to, but let us not forget that none of us qualify as a leader without the anointing and the protection of God upon us. God alone is to be worshipped. He is dependable.
