At the close of Jesus’ public ministry, He said, as is recorded in Matthew 28:18-20 KJV, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Our Lord, who has supreme authority over everything, has promised us as believers He will be with us always. And as He gave this charge to His disciples He also imparted to them His powers and His strength. Not only in the physical realm, but in the spiritual realm as well, we have authority through Christ who dwells in us. Jesus said, as is recorded in John 14:12 KJV, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth in me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” It is past time Christians begin to exercise the authority Christ has given to us in Jesus’ name to crush the enemy of our souls.
