On Monday, April 22, the Evangeline Parish Library hosted an Earth Day celebration and held a ribbon cutting for the brand new see library. Two free packs of seeds can be checked out by patrons each day with their library card. In exchange, seeds from the future plants may be donated to the library for others to enjoy later. The seed-sharing cycle is a way to “pay it forward to strengthen out community and future generations through the satisfaction gained by growing our own food and plants.” Vegetable and plant seeds are available and arranged in alphabetical order and have varying degrees of maintenance. Donations of seed packets will gratefully be accepted at the front desk of the Ville Platte branch library.
