VPPD responds to a stabbing

The Ville Platte Police Department responded to a non-fatal stabbing incident last week that resulted in a suspect being booked into the parish jail on a felony charge.
“On Friday, October 19, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 1300 block of Kendall Street in Ville Platte,” said Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue in a statement. “Upon arrival, officers learned that two white males got into an argument that resulted in a physical altercation. During the physical altercation, one male stabbed the other male twice in the left torso area.”
The statement from Chief Lartigue continued, “Officers and detectives reported that upon arrival they found one male subject laying on the floor inside the residence with two stab wounds. The suspect was also inside the residence. The victim was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center by Acadian Ambulance and later sent by Air Med to Lafayette General Medical Center where he was treated and released the same night.
Charles ‘Tony’ Reed, 69, 1333 Kendall Street, Ville Platte, was arrested and charged with aggravated second degree battery. Mr. Reed was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and later transferred to the Evangeline Parish Jail and later released on a $75,000.00 bond."
