Chief Neal Lartigue along with the staff of the Ville Platte Police Department have announced that they are collecting school supplies for elementary schools inside the city limits.
“Most teachers purchase school supplies out of their salaries each year to ensure that every child has the necessary supplies to learn in their classroom,” said the chief in a press release.
The chief in his press release also expressed that the department is looking for support from the community in this endeavor.
“You can donate supplies by dropping them off at the Ville Platte Police Department at any time,” said the release. “If your business would like to donate, please contact Connie Lamke at the Ville Platte Police Department, and she will make arrangements to have your donation picked up. If you prefer to make a monetary donation the department will purchase supplies and place in the collection box for you.”
“We have three local elementary schools, and Chief Lartigue will deliver the donated supplies to the schools before the school year starts. Please consider picking up a few extra school supplies when you go shopping. We would like to show our support to these children and ensure that they have a great start to this school year. The school supply drive is going on now and will continue until Friday, August 3.”
