Chief Neal Lartigue reports two arrests in two separate incidents.
On July 17, 2020, Officers responded to the 600 block of Rozas Street in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers located a black male who was not responsive. The male was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Upon investigation Officers and Detectives learned that a male and female had an argument over money and the male grabbed the female in an aggressive manner. The victim stepped in to break to stop the altercation and the suspect hit him one time in the face. The victim fell backwards onto the paved road. The female stated that the suspect ran when she called 911 for help.
Jeremy Breaux, age 32, of 609 Rozas Street, was arrested and charged with negligent homicide. Breaux was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail with no bond.
In a separate incident on July 19, 2020 at approximately 10:43 a.m., Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department were dispatched to Canal Street in reference to a white male causing a disturbance. It was reported that the male suspect was making threats towards his neighbors. Upon arrival Officers spoke with the victim of the threats who stated that the suspect approached him and his children and threated his life. The victim went inside his residence and called the Police and the suspect continued walking up and down the street screaming and threatening to kill him.
Officers attempted to speak with the suspect who fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit the suspect was captured and repeatedly made comments that were erratic.
Brad Foxworth, age 31, whose last known address was 212 North Morein Street, Ville Platte, was arrested and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail. Foxworth was charged with terrorizing and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail with no bond.
