A Ville Platte inmate, who escaped from jail recently, has been located and is now back in custody.
Kenneth Perkins, Jr., escaped from jail on July 5, 2018 while being transported to the Ville Platte City Jail from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office. The 35-year-old had been arrested for misdemeanor charges of delinquent fines.
When the EPSO deputy escorted Perkins into the city jail and removed his handcuffs, the inmate allegedly shoved the deputy and escaped.
Authorities believe that once he escaped, Perkins stole a bicycle from a nearby yard and fled the area.
Since being located, Perkins now faces charges of escape, theft and battery on a correction officer.
