The City of Rayne teamed up with the City of Ville Platte to tackle drainage issues.
City employees from Ville Platte recently travelled to Rayne to learn how to use its system.
The mayor of Rayne Charles Robichaux released a statement on the two cities working together.
“I was compelled to write a letter to let your community be made aware of the good works of Mayor Jennifer Vidrine of Ville Platte,” he said in a letter to The Ville Platte Gazette.
The letter continued as follows: “I am the Mayor of Rayne and, as a new first term mayor of almost four years now, am faced with the overwhelming drainage problems like most are having, around our state. Our city developed an award winning program that has gained national attention. Mayor Vidrine, whom I had the pleasure of working with as she is a board member of the LMA (Louisiana Municipal Association), is pushing these training sessions. She by example has recently sent out a few of her department heads to learn the process as well as purchase the materials needed to tackle the task to improve the drainage for the citizens of Ville Platte. Our City is working with the LMA/LaMATS Executive Director, Cliff Palmer, to help cities across our wonderful state to help correct drainage issues. Please commend your mayor for caring enough to correct drainage issues in your region.”
