Christopher Stephen Mayeaux, a Ville Platte resident, was arrested March 4 after an incident the day before. Police say Mayeaux is accused of following a vehicle and shooting someone in the back.
On March 3, St. Landry deputies received a call from a man who said he was followed by a white car from his home in Evangeline Parish. He said someone in the white car was shooting at him, and he believed that person was 31-year-old Mayeaux.
The victim pulled over at Highway 29 and Rougeau Road, near Eunice, waited for an ambulance after he was shot. He was then taken for treatment to a hospital in Lafayette.
Deputies Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office went to Mayeaux’s residence to speak with him, but Mayeaux would not exit his residence, nor would he comply with any verbal instruction by law enforcement officers at the scene. A warrant was then issued for his arrest, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
The next day, on March 4th, deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and detectives from the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Mayeaux in Ville Platte. Mayeaux was then taken to the St. Landry Parish Jail and was booked on the charges of attempted second degree murder and carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $107,500.
