Ville Platte dispatches with Welsh in blowout win

WELSH -- Hanna Monier pitched a complete game and Jenna Smith went 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead the Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs past the Welsh Lady Greyhounds 13-2 in a District 6-2A game Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, Ville Platte moves to 4-2 on the year and 2-1 in league play. The Lady Bulldogs host Lake Arthur today at 3:30 in another district contest.
Ville Platte jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after their first at bat. Hanna Monier and Alyssa Soileau singled, while Madison Monier doubled to lead the way at the plate.
After holding Welsh scoreless in the bottom of the first, the Lady Bulldogs added to their lead in the top of the second, scoring a single run. Hanna Monier tripled and scored on a passed ball to give Ville Platte a 4-0 lead.
Another scoreless at bat by the Lady Greyhounds was followed by a four run inning for Ville Platte in the top of the third. Madison Monier, Destiny Lavigne and Josey Ardoin all doubled to help give the Lady Bulldogs a huge 8-0 lead.
Welsh scratched home a run in the bottom of the third inning. However, Ville Platte responded with five more runs in the top of the fourth. Big hits in the inning came from Ardoin, Lavigne, Kenderlyn Doucet, all three with doubles and Madison Monier, who tripled.
The Lady Greyhounds final run came in the bottom of the fourth, but it was not enough to prevent the Lady Bulldogs from picking up the run-rule win.
Hanna Monier was 3 for 3 on the day with one RBI. Madison Monier was 3 for 4 with one RBI.
Soileau and Ardoin each had two hits.
