CHATAIGNIER- During a special meeting last Thursday, the Chataignier Village Council responded to a pump that had gone out at the sewer lift station by adopting a resolution to apply for an emergency grant.
Mayor Jackie Malveaux Thomas read the resolution for emergency funding from the Louisiana Government Assistance Program (or LGAP) in the amount of $9,561.67.
According to engineer Todd Deville with J. Ronald Landreneau and Associates, the money received would replace one of the two pumps.
Village Administrator Gail McDavid pointed out that the amount of the grant is so high because “they don’t sell them individually.”
No other action was taken by the council, and the next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the village hall.
