Vidrine is reelected police juror in District 7; Saucier defeats Rider for police juror in District 1

In the two runoff elections for Evangeline Parish Police Jury, incumbent Bryan Vidrine won reelection in District 7, and, in District 1, challenger Keith Saucier defeated incumbent Rocky Rider.
Vidrine received 939 votes (60.31 percent) to David Ortego’s 618 votes (39.69 percent).
“This has been great,” Vidrine exclaimed.
He added, “In the last 12 years we did a lot of things like improving roads and drainage and all of the other things we have done. We stayed within our means, and I want to continue doing that. We don’t have a lot of money in our district, and we do what we can. I want to continue to do more than what I’ve done.”
Saucier won the election in District 5 after garnering 816 votes, which was good for 52.71 percent. Rider received 732 votes, which was good for 47.29 percent.
Also on the ballot Saturday night, except for the two state races, were five tax renewal propositiåons.
The 3.57 mills renewal in the Eunice Gravity Drainage District No. 9 received 25 no votes (58.14 percent) and 18 yes votes (41.86 percent) in Evangeline Parish.
All four renewals on the ballot in the Village of Pine Prairie overwhelmingly were renewed.
In a statement to the Ville Platte Gazette, Mayor Quint West said, “I want to thank the people of Pine Prairie for once again pulling together and showing their love and support for our village. It is an honor to represent such great people as mayor.”
“Thanks again from Mayor West, councilmembers Debbie Oge, Tammy Hammond, and Gilbert Bordelon. Also a thank you from Police Chief Deshotel.”
The 2 mill continuation received 235 yes votes (84.23 percent) and 44 no votes (15.77 percent).
The 7 mill continuation received 227 yes votes (82.85 percent) and 47 no votes (17.15 votes).
The 5 mill renewal received 233 yes votes for 83.51 percent compared to 46 no votes for 16.49 percent.
The 3 mill renewal passed with 235 votes for 84.84 percent and 42 no votes for 15.16 percent.
