Monday, July 8, a vehicle was burglarized in broad daylight behind Strides of Acadiana in Ville Platte. The vehicle was parked on Derouen Street, behind the business.
Ville Platte Police Department was on the scene with victim, Lana Gulley. Detective Jessica LaBorde examined the car and dusted for finger prints. According to Gulley, she left her car door unlocked by accident, and some phone chargers, several dollars in change, and a cross that belonged to her grandfather were stolen. “Everything was pulled out the glove compartment,” she said.
Officer Ervin Bourque, who was on the scene, said a man recently left his wallet in his car and stepped out for literally a couple of seconds, and someone came behind him, opened the door, and stole the wallet.
LaBorde and Bourque both cautioned people to not leave their purses, wallets, or anything of value in their vehicles and make sure they lock the doors.
