After numerous complaints and concerns of possible narcotics activity in the village, the Turkey Creek Police Department conducted surveillance on a residence of interest on Turkey Hollow Road.
Officers observed a heavy amount of vehicle traffic going to and from the residence at all hours of the day, especially after dark, over the last month. Officers also observed bicycle traffic, to and from the residence, which was believed to be the means to distribute narcotics.
Turkey Creek Police Officer Chris Lemaire conducted a traffic stop during the early morning of April 19, which resulted in the discovery of narcotics. Officer Lemaire made another traffic stop at approximately 4 a.m., where he had to tow the vehicle. The occupants made reference they were meeting with the suspect of this investigation.
Shortly thereafter, Officer Lemaire observed the suspect of the investigation, riding a bicycle without lights, as required by Louisiana’s Bicycle Law. Officer Lemaire conducted a field interview, where he located narcotics packaged for sale and drug paraphernalia.
Based on information gathered and the narcotics seized, probable cause for a search warrant was sent to the judge. A search warrant was executed and illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and an illegal firearm were seized from the residence and a camper on the property.
“I would like to first commend the officers of Turkey Creek and Joshua Uhlman with Pine Prairie Police Department for their performance in executing a search warrant,” Chief Eckhart said in a statement.
“Much of the information obtained was received from residents of Turkey Creek that strengthened the validity of the search warrant,” he continued. “I would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and report all suspicious activity.”
