Supt. Lazard responds to cyber attacks in St. Landry Parish

In light of recent cyber attacks that plagued the St. Landry Parish School District, Evangeline Parish Superintendent of Schools Darwan Lazard issued the following statement regarding the possibility of similar attacks here in the parish.
“The cyber attacks on the St. Landry Parish School District, other school districts, and governmental entities in Louisiana is truly unfortunate,” Lazard said. Such attacks hinder student learning and the awesome work of our dedicated teachers, principals, and educational supervisors.”
“I’m especially grateful to our school board, district technology team and school employees for their vigilance in taking precautions to protect student and personnel data.”
While no data system is absolutely impenetrable, we will continue taking precautions to guard all data in our possession.”
“We will continue working with and following guidance from officials of the LA Department of Education, LA State Police and other cyber security experts.”
