The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office recently shared that several stolen ATV’s have been recovered.
In a release from the EPSO it stated that on April 2, 2018, “at approximately 10:31 p.m., the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint in reference to a theft that occurred at 5391 Pine Point Rd.” According to the release, “The complainant advised that four ATV’s had been stolen.”
Deputies then responded to the incident to further investigate the matter.
According to the release, “after leaving the scene, deputies located a pickup truck pulling a trailer, which was carrying two ATV’s which matched the description of two stolen.”
At this point, “deputies were able to stop the vehicle and detain the driver,” and then “confirm that the ATV’s were stolen from 5391 Pine Point Rd.”
The driver of the truck was taken into custody and the ATV’s were returned to the owner.
According to the EPSO release, “the case was then transferred to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation’s Division.”
After following up on the case, investigators “were able to locate two ATV’s in the Elton area, which were stolen out of the Ville Platte area.”
The release states that “investigators were able to obtain probable cause linking two other subjects to the thefts and arrest warrants were obtained.”
According to the release, “those subjects were later taken into custody and in turn revealed the location of another stolen ATV, which was subsequently recovered and returned to the owner.”
At this time, a total of three of the four ATV’s stolen from the Pine Point Rd. residence have been recovered, along with two other ATV’s that were not connected to the ones stolen on Pine Point Rd. The one ATV that has not been recovered is believed to be located in the Lawtell area.
According to the release, “suspect information has been withheld due to an ongoing investigation.”
