If you are looking to remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and experience something out of this world, then you won’t want to miss Fête du VOID’s The Iceman Special set to be hosted in Cypress Creek on April 12-13.
The two day camping event is sure to be one like nothing that has ever taken place in Evangeline Parish. Along with camping, those who take part in this once in a lifetime experience will also be able to enjoy music, camping, art, community and wellness.
Visitors will take a step off the beaten path and travel to a scene that allows them to be surrounded by nature while raising money for 232-HELP - a local mental health charity that is able to locate more than 1,500 resources to help with health issues, rent and utility assistance, food, clothing, education, volunteer and donor opportunities.
Fete du VOID started with an intimate group of down-home guys and girls - several of which are from Evangeline and Allen Parishes - and has grown to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that strives “to provide an environment where everyone can dive into something that leaves them better off in the end.”
The event will offer visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves into guided meditation, creativity workshops and talks, yoga and more.
This year’s event is hosted in honor of one of Fête du VOID AJ Johnson co-founder cousin Matthew Dousay, who was a local victim of suicide.
The event will be hosted on the west end of Evangeline Parish on a spacious oasis in Cypress Creek.
The total forty acres of open land will provide the perfect setting to host four stages where music will be played, wellness workshops will take place and food and art will be on display.
There will be a Zen Den where visitors will be able to clear their mind through yoga, guided meditation, sound baths and thought provoking speakers.
The Victorious Project will also make an appearance during the event, which is a Winnebago transformed into an owl. The concept was created by artist Victor Tilvaro, who died by suicide in May of 2018. The space inside of Victorious is solely dedicated to healing, meditation and consciousness expansion.
The campground for this event will open at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12th. The front gate will close Friday night at midnight. Visitors will then not be allowed to enter the festival until Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 8:00 a.m.
The main venue is the heart of the festival and will showcase performances, vendors, and a variety of activities. The main venue will open at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, and will stay open until Saturday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m.
Children are allowed at this event, but all children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Those who choose to camp all weekend should bring the following supplies: tents and shelter, sleeping bags and beds, tarp, cooler and/or water jugs, lantern, flashlights, headlamps, stainless steel water bottle, camping chairs, tables and anothing else that might help create a comfy home-away from home, rain gear, your favorite hoodie, extra shoes, rubber boots, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, bandana, sunglasses, biodegradable plastic bags for trash, toilet paper, flag or balloon to identify your campsite, extra set of keys to keep with you at all time, and cash to buy food art and merchandise.
Tickets for this one of a kind event cost $50.00. To purchase yours visit www.theicemanspecial.com.
Deadline to get your tickets is April 1, 2019.
