Richardson found guilty on one charge; not guilty on another

A judge trial took place in 13th Judicial District Judge Chuck West’s courtroom on Monday for and individual who was arrested in May of 2017 following an altercation between family members.
The defendant in this matter was Grayling Richardson, who faced charges of criminal trespassing on immovable property and simple battery.
Grayling’s arrest in this matter was a result of him being accused of showing up at the residence of Darrell and Mia Reed and allegedly verbally and physically assaulting the Reeds. What prompted Grayling’s actions was an incident that occurred earlier that day between the Reeds and Grayling’s son, former Basile Police Officer Nicholas Richardson.
Video surveillance from the residence where the incident occurred showed Nicholas getting out of his police cruiser at his family member’s home, pulling his gun from his holster and then returning it during a heated alteration between he and the Reeds.
When Nicholas left the Reed’s residence, his father, Grayling, then returned to the Reed’s home where the Reed’s alleged that an altercation ensued.
After hearing the evidence presented at trial, the judge found Grayling not guilty of the simple batter charge he faced. However, he did find the defendant guilty of criminal trespassing.
For the guilty verdict, Grayling was sentenced to pay $400 immediately following the misdemeanor trial. A permanent restraining order was also ordered by the judge, which states that Grayling must stay at least 50 feet away from the victim.
