Qualifying for the November 6, 2018 elections begins this week on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, and will last until Friday, July 20th.
Local elections that will be taking place in November of this year are mayor, chief of police, and aldermen for the City of Ville Platte, the Towns of Mamou and Basile, and the Village of Chataignier.
An election for the positions of mayor and councilmen will also be held in the Village of Turkey Creek on November 6th. However, unlike in the past, there will be no election for the position of police chief for the Village of Turkey Creek after the community voted to change its police chief position from elected to appointed during an election that was held in March of this year.
Other local elections this November will be held for all Evangeline Parish School Board seats.
Those wishing to qualifying to run for these offices may do so by visiting the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court’s Office in the parish courthouse on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Early voting, which will take place at the parish courthouse, for the Nov. 6th elections will begin on October 23, 2018 and last until Oct. 30th.
