On July 29th, 2020 around 7:35 p.m. Sgt. Christopher Soileau with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office observed a black Toyota car on the side of the road near the 3000 Block of LA 29 with its hazard lights on.

Upon contact with said vehicle, Sgt. Soileau checked the plate information through dispatch and it was discovered that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lafayette. This led to a pursuit into Chataignier and into St. Landry Parish ending on LA 103 at McGuffy Road where the vehicle wrecked into the ditch.

After a short foot chase, Sgt. Soileau was able to apprehend the suspect, David Wayne Guillory of Lafayette, without further incident. St. Landry EMS arrived on scene to check Guillory. Guillory was then transported to the St. Landry Parish Jail where he is currently being held on an active warrant for St. Landry Parish. An arrest warrant was submitted to Judge Ortego of Evangeline Parish for the following charges. 1 count LARS 14:108.1 Aggravated Flight from an Officer and 1 count of LARS 14:69 Illegal Possession of stolen things. A bond amount was set at $60,000 by Judge Ortego. No officers involved in the pursuit were injured.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office would like to thank The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, Eunice Police Department, Louisiana State Police Troop I and Opelousas Police Department for the assistance in this matter.
