Public schools release details on graduation

With graduation dates set for the public schools in Evangeline Parish for next week, the schools released details on how they will proceed with their individual ceremonies while still being under the social distancing guidelines.
The following is a rundown of the details for Ville Platte High, Mamou High, and Pine Prairie High.

Ville Platte High
A Recognition Procession will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at the AutoZone parking lot on Lincoln Rd. The route will turn down Dupre St. toward Main St. It will then turn on S.E. Railroad Ave to Cotton St. before going down the horseshoe driveway in front of the school. The route will end at the football field where each graduate will be presented with their diploma by their parents.

Pine Prairie High
PPHS will hold a parade for its graduates on Thursday, May 14, at 5:15 p.m. The parade will start in Pine Prairie at the corner of Magnolia and 1st Street.

Mamou High
MHS will also hold two separate parades beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 15. The parades will be on broadcasted live on the school’s Facebook page.
The lineup route starts in front of Mamou High and will around on Pine St. by the 8th grade classrooms.
In order to meet the CDC guidelines, graduates will be divided into two groups alphabetically. The green group consists of graduates whose last name begins with A through G and will lineup at 2:30 p.m. followed by a parade and diploma presentation beginning at 3 p.m. The Yellow Group will consist of graduates whose last names begin with letters H through W and will lineup at 4:30 p.m. followed by a parade and diploma presentation starting at 5 p.m.
