Pride of the Bulldogs

Bulldog graduating seniors from Ville Platte High School were honored for their academic achievements Monday night at a Senior Awards Night held at the Northside Civic Center.
The main awards on the night were presented to the honor graduates as follows: Jacorrey Cordell Frank, GPA 3.5862; Jada Joymarie Guillory, GPA 3.6552; Jillian Grace Thille, GPA 3.6562; Ryandracas Keith Chapman, GPA 3.6667; Emily Faith Wilson, GPA 3.8571; Kaemen Javari LaFleur, GPA 3.8571; John Christopher Briley, GPA 3.8966; Jarden Na’chole Bias, GPA 4.0357; Student of the Year McKenzie Claire Walker, GPA 4.0857; Historian Aneeta Jolly, GPA 4.1613; Salutatorian Sara Margaret Mire, GPA 4.2581; and Valedictorian Wesley P. Vidrine, GPA 4.3548.
Vidrine and Walker were also recognized for attending the LSUE Academy during their junior and senior years. According to the school, “Vidrine has earned over 50 college hours by attending the academy. He is only a couple classes shy of being a college junior. Walker earned her associates degree and will graduate with over 60 college hours. She is our first student to complete high school with an associates degree from LSUE.”
A number of seniors also completed college credits through the dual enrollment program at LSUE. They were Johnathan Ardoin, Jarden Bias, John Briley, Arturo Calderon, Kimberly Frank, Jacorrey Frank, Jada Guillory, Aneeta Jolly, Kaeman Lafleur, Sara Mire, Alexander Soileau, Tabitha Thibodeaux, Jillian Thille, and Emily Wilson.
Those students who maintained a 4.0 GPA for the entire 2018-2019 school year in grades 9-11 were also recognized. They were McKenzie McClinton, Claire Pitre, Caliah Guillory, Baylee Celestine, Mishal Chaudhry, and Imee Nega-Patan.
Teacher Sarah LaFleur then presented pins to Kimberly Fontenot, Jada Guillory, Aneeta Jolly, Sara Mire, Tabitha Thibodeaux, Jillian Thille, and Macey Johnson for completing the newly organized Future Educators of Evangeline Parish program. According to information from the school, these students “visited LSUE to learn about its education program, attended a New Teacher Orientation that all new teachers who are hired in Evangeline Parish actually attend, and they created a scrapbook of all their memories.”
Senior members of the National Beta Club Ryandrecus Chapman, Jillian Thille, Alexander Soileau, Jarden Bias, Aneeta Jolly, Sara Mire, McKenzie Walker, Wesley Vidrine, Jonathan Ardoin, Emily Wilson, Arturo Calderon, John Briley, Allison Bello, Tabitha Thibodeaux, and Imajah Doucet were then presented with their gold stoles.
Those seniors who placed at District Literary Rally were then recognized. They were Kaeman Lafleur, Ryandracus Chapman, and Sean Eastin.
Academic Excellence awards were then presented to Kaeman Lafleur in Advanced Math, Ryandracus Chapman in English IV, Reid and Sean Eastin in Business Math, Tatiyana Ferguson in Math Essentials, and Chasity Jason and Darious Ceaser in Business English.
Students in Nick Jagneaux’s French 2 class were recognized for participating in the Tri-Parish Foreign Language Festival at LSUE. Those who placed superior were Jaylen Boast, Ryandracus Chapman, Betty Velasquez, Dajayana Gallow, Aletra Griffith, and Craig Revere, and those who placed excellent were Daisy Bordelon, Noah Doucet, Harley Fontenot, Elvis Tran, and Markaija Lemelle. Carlos Hall received a very good rating.
The senior student council members were Aneeta Jolly, 1st Vice President; Jacorrey Frank, 2nd Vice President; Imajah Doucet, 1st Secretary; Darious Ceaser, 2nd Secretary; Jada Guillory, Song Leader/Event Manager; Kaeman Lafleur, Sergeant-at-Arms; Sara Mire, Historian; Jarden Bias, Member; and Jillian Thille, Member.
Dianna Johnson then presented awards to those senior students in the Jobs for American Graduates (JAG) program. They were Austin Alagad, Khyrin Anderson, Arianna Ardoin, Darious Ceaser, Brendan Coward, Jekeinzie Dixon, Jaqualyn Doucet, Allaya Durgin, Sean Eastin, Tristan Evans, Haven Fontenot, Chrislynn Frechette, Brett Gorman, Alex Griffith, Carla Jack, Tahj Jack, Kendall Jackson, Chasity Jason, Aaliyah Johnson, Destin Keen, Debrillie McDaniel, Carl Richard, Keshal Thomas, Trayvence Thomas, Brandon Veazie, and Tevin Wilson.
Alagad and Ceaser were presented with the JAG Portfolios, and Ceaser was also presented with the JAG Specialist award.
Presenting the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training (JROTC) cords was 1st Sergeant Jesse Fontenot to Sabrina Aclis, Alexis Ardoin, Allison Bello, Darious Ceaser, Arionna Fontenot, Brett Gorman, Chasity Jason, Nala Lee, Elizabeth McDaniel, Tijuan Sims, Nakendrea Doucet, Tristan Evans, Macey Johnson, Debrillie McDaniel, and Dorian Vidrine.
Five other seniors have enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard. They were Johnathan Ardoin, Davyonski Arvie, Arturo Calderon, Tyra Edwards, and Shayla Moore. Also enlisting in the U.S. Army was Dorian Vidrine.
