Plans are in the works for Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church to construct a New Garden Mausoleum in the church’s cemetery to the right of the oldest mausoleum.
Fr. Tom Voorhies, pastor of Sacred Heart, said in a statement that the parish “has entered into an agreement with American Cemetery Consultants, LLC, of New Orleans to conduct an analysis to determine the amount of spaces we will build in the mausoleum.”
The statement continued as follows: “After the analysis is completed, and the final size has been determined, the firm will begin the construction phase of the program. The program has the full approval of the Most Reverend J. Douglas Deshotel, Bishop of Lafayette.
The mausoleum will be designed and constructed so that it will stand the test of time. The mausoleum will be built with steel reinforced, poured-in-place concrete, and finished with the finest materials and select granites. Additionally, the care and maintenance of the mausoleum will be assured by establishing an endowed care fund used solely for its upkeep. The interest and earnings of this special fund will be used to preserve this beautiful memorial.
American Cemetery Consultant’s expert staff has many years of experience in the design, sales, and construction of mausoleums. The staff has been instrumental in developing many programs throughout the area.
Representatives will conduct an analysis for the next several weeks to answer questions about the mausoleum and determine who would be interested in making arrangements for their families before construction begins. Financial arrangements will also be available. For that reason, anyone seeking information and may be interested should speak to a representative to reserve your space now.”
