Pine Prairie set to receive new police unit and equipment

At last week’s meeting of the Pine Prairie Council, Mayor Quint West relayed compliments that he has gotten on the village’s appearance.
“I got so many compliments about the properties by the school,” stated the mayor. “When I got to school, people were happy that it was clean.”
The mayor also stated that people have told him “this is the best Pine Prairie has ever looked.” He added, “I think that goes to Randal Brady because I told him every 10 minutes to get on the golf cart and pick up every piece of paper, and he does it. Town workers also get the grass cut, so it feels good to hear some positive about what we’re doing.”
Mayor West further expressed that he and Councilwoman Tammy Hammond will work on trying to meet with Pine Prairie Energy about new batting cages at the ballpark.
In other business, the council heard again from Police Chief LC Deshotel about the purchase of a new vehicle. The mayor told Chief Deshotel that he will get with the council to “get the ball rolling.”
The chief replied that it will take “60 to 90 days for the unit to get here after we order it” and that the village will “have to pay to equip the new unit.”
The new police car will be, according to the chief, a 2019 model.
