Pine Prairie Police arrest corrections officer for malfeasance in office

An employee of the Pine Prairie Correctional Center is facing criminal charges of alleged malfeasance in office. The suspect is April Curtis, 39, of Eunice.
The Pine Prairie Police Department in a press release reported, “On April 2, 2018, Pine Prairie Police received a complaint from Pine Prairie Correctional Center about possible inappropriate activity between a detainee and an employee. Through evidence found during a search of inmate property, it was found that an employee had communication with a detainee outside of her job duties.”
The press release continued, “With the evidence that was obtained, an arrest warrant was issued for April M. Curtis of Eunice for Malfeasance in Office with a $20,000 bond set by Judge West. With the assistance of the Eunice City Marshal’s Office, Curtis was arrested without incident and transported to the Evangeline Parish Jail on said charges.”
