After voters overwhelmingly approved a renewal of the 2% Sales Tax in the March 30 election, the Pine Prairie Village Council adopted a resolution to accept the outcome.
“The resolution will certify and canvass the election results,” said Village Attorney Greg Vidrine.
The council then introduced an ordinance which will continue to levy the sales tax. A public hearing regarding the ordinance is set for Thursday, May 9, at 5:00 p.m. before the council takes any further action.
In other business, the council tabled Chief L.C. Deshotel’s request to remove the east and west stop signs at the intersection of Railroad and Elm Streets between the Pine Cone and the high school gym, and Mayor Quint West reported the new police unit “finally came in.”
