Pine Prairie council adopts budgets

The Pine Prairie Village Council, during its last meeting of 2019, voted to amend the 2019 annual budget of revenues and expenditures and to adopt the 2020 Fiscal Year Budget setting the village’s budget of revenues and expenditures.
According to the budgets, the amended total revenues at year’s end was $910,364, and the total amended expenditures at year’s end was $1,017,200.
The budget for 2020 calls for total revenues of $936,250. A breakdown of the proposed revenues is as follows:
Ad valorem taxes-

Franchise tax- $58,000
Licenses and permits-
$51,000
Prison fees- $248,000
Fines and forfeits-
$500,000
Rental fees- $4,000
Miscellaneous- $6,000
Total proposed expenditures for fiscal year 2020 are in the amount of $941,700.

Police Department-
$547,500
Drug Asset Forfeiture
Fund- $2,000
Recreation- $51,500
The village estimates a beginning fund balance of $379,267 and an ending fund balance of $341,817.
In other business, the council:
• voted to accept the Village of Pine Prairie Policies and Procedures Manual.
• voted to accept the Village of Pine Prairie Sexual Harassment Policy.
• heard from Police Chief L.C. Deshotel about Breaux Bridge donating a police unit.
• and discussed the dog problem in the village.
